Of the 336 middle schools in the state of Indiana, what makes BCMS unique is our culture. Ours is a culture of safety, high expectations, and support for its students and the adults who impact these students.
BCMS offers a broad spectrum of opportunities for students to create confidence, pride, and a sense of belonging. These include a variety of clubs and sports programs. On average, over 60% of our students typically are involved in sports and/or extra-curricular activities. In addition, BCMS provides a curriculum based on the state standards, one that is challenging yet attainable for all students, including those students who are advanced and those who need extra support to succeed. This is evidenced by our ISTEP+ scores, which consistently rank amoung the highest in the area.
Finally, BCMS provides an extensive system of rewards and recognition for students who are choosing the academic and behavioral set of high expectations.
Our vision, which the staff, students, and community created together, also emphasizes respect for others, positive role models, consideration for family time, honesty, accountability, and active engagement with children. These are the components that create the culture that sets us apart from many.
