The Brownstown Development Team was created in 2008 and contracted with Ball State's Building Better Communities to assist with the creation of a community plan that will set the direction for Brownstown's future development. A steering committee of business owners, community leaders, educators and volunteers was established to help guide the process.
On March 19, 2009, over eighty local citizens shared their ideas at a community planning retreat and their comments and suggestions led to the identification of six general areas of focus (listed to the right). Task groups established goals and objectives based on the input provided at the retreat and a community development plan was completed by Ball State's BBC. Task group leaders would like to invite interested members of the community to join them. If you would like to join a task group, please contact a member from the list at right or attend a meeting of the Brownstown Community Enhancement Partnership held on the first Thursday of each month at noon, at the Chamber office, 119 W. Walnut St.
