2010 MELONFEST ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP

The Melonfest board of directors is proud to announce the entertainment line-up for this year’s festival on Sept. 10 and 11. Entertainment Director Wayne Deaton has worked hard to bring quality acts to both stages throughout the two-day festival.

On Friday, opening ceremonies will begin on the main stage at 5 p.m. followed by the princess contest, baby contest, watermelon crawl and the Mr. Melonhead contest. At 8 p.m. The Son Worshippers rock band will perform followed by Captain Backfire, an R&B and classic rock band, at 9 p.m.

The second stage line-up begins at 7 p.m. with a watermelon eating contest. At 8 p.m., the teen rock band, 7-Car Pile-up, will take the stage followed by a local teen band from Seymour, Quarantined, at 9 p.m.

On Saturday, there will be a bubblegum blowing contest on the main stage at 10 a.m. Following the parade which kicks off at 12:30 p.m., the Stars and Stripes Cloggers will perform at 2 p.m. and Kountry Kickers will do line-dancing at 3 p.m. The bluegrass band, Lonesome Highway, will perform at 4 p.m., followed by a contemporary Christian band at 6 p.m. The festival committee is proud to have country music’s newest female duet, Aly’an, perform at 8 p.m. on the main stage.

The second stage line-up for Saturday begins at 2 p.m. with Sam Cone followed by Tommy Day and Matt Barnett – all playing acoustic guitar. At 6:30 p.m., the Presbyterian Church Praise Team will sing contemporary Christian music.

A roving clown will perform around the square on Saturday from 3-8 p.m.

MORE ABOUT THE ACTS PERFORMING AT THE 2010 MELONFEST

Entertainment Director Wayne Deaton has provided some information about the acts performing at this year’s Melonfest on Sept. 10 and 11 around the courthouse square in Brownstown. The main stage will be located on Walnut St. on the left side of the courthouse and the second stage will be set up on Cross St. at U.S. 50.

The Son Worshippers are a rock band who will perform at 8 p.m. Friday on the main stage.

Captain Backfire does a mix of classic rock and fun and a few originals that everyone will enjoy. They will be taking the main stage at 9 p.m. Friday.

7-Car Pile-Up is a rock band of teenagers who play like seasoned professionals. They play mostly classic hard rock and throw in a few originals as well. They are performing on the second stage on Friday at 8 p.m.

Quarantined is a local band from Seymour who has a huge following. They have been working hard on their sound and are sure to please the crowd. They will perform at 9 p.m. Friday on the second stage.

Lonesome Highway is one of the best blue grass bands in the state. This is their first time to the festival and they are sure to make believers of everyone who hears them perform. They are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday on the main stage.

Aly’An is country’s newest female duet made up of Alyson Burke and Andrea Warner, both from a small town in central Kentucky. They perform country and classic rock with a twist. Aly’An will take the main stage at 8 p.m. Check out their Face Book page: www.facebook.com/pages/Alyan.

Sam Cone is a singer-songwriter who does a great job at both rock and pop acoustic guitar as well as original pieces. He will be on the second stage at 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Tommy Day is a singer-songwriter from Seymour who brings a freshness with his acoustic guitar to some old songs as well as great justice to some new songs that everyone will love. He will perform at 3:30 p.m. on the second stage on Saturday.

Matt Barnett is a Brownstown local who is an acoustic sensation with country, bluegrass and rock. He’ll be on the second stage at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The New School Praise Team from Brownstown Presbyterian Church sings uplifting contemporary Christian music that will inspire everyone listening. They will take the second stage at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
