2010 MELONFEST CORN HOLE TOURNAMENT RULES

Tournament will be played in doubles with one member of each team pitching from opposite platforms. A coin toss will determine which team in each match begins first. A Melonfest committee member will determine which teams play in each bracket by luck of the draw.

Each match will be played to 21. The top of each inning will be completed by both contestants pitching from the same platform all four bags. The bottom of each inning will be completed when each remaining contestant pitches all four bags from the other platform.

The first-side contestants will alternate pitching corn bags until they have thrown all four bags, then remaining contestants will continue in same manner from second side until all four bags are tossed.

Contestants may choose to deliver their tosses from either side of the platform, but from the same side in any one inning.

Contestants who scored highest in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning. If neither contestant scored in the previous inning, the contestant who pitched second in the preceding inning shall pitch first in the next inning.

The winning team shall be the first to reach 21 at the completion of an inning. The game cannot end in the middle of an inning; thus if a team that pitches first reaches 21 points, the game continues until one team of the other achieves a higher score at the end of an inning and wins the match.

Value of each Corn Bag:

1. A CORN BAG IN THE HOLE IS WORTH (3) POINTS.
2. A CORN BAG NOT IN THE HOLE BUT LANDS WITH ANY PORTION ON THE PLATFORM AND NO PORTION TOUCHING THE GROUND IS WORTH (1) POINT.
3. A CORN BAG MUST NOT TOUCH THE GROUND OR ANY PORTION OF THE COURT PRIOR TO COMING TO REST ON THE PLATFORM OR IT WILL BE CONSIDERED A FOUL AND REMOVED FROM PLAY PRIOR TO CONTINUATION OF PLAY.
4. A CORN BAG WHICH COMES TO REST ANYWHERE EXCEPT IN A SCORING POSITION MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE CONTINUATION OF PLAY.
5. CANCELLATION SCORING WILL BE USED IF EACH TEAM SCORES A BAG-IN-THE-HOLE OR A "SCORING BAG" IN THE SAME INNING.

THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT WILL BE PLAYED USING BRACKETS WITH WINNING TEAMS ADVANCING UNTIL A CHAMPION IS DETERMINED. TROPHIES AND CASH PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE TOURNAMENT.

First place: $75 each team member
Second place: $25 each team member

Cost to play is $10 per person, $20 per team.
