JACKSON COUNTY WATERMELON
FESTIVAL - September 16, 17, 18 , 2005
- Among
major festivals in the area, the Jackson County Watermelon Festival,
a three-day celebration of the harvest of
watermelons, encompasses the downtown area in mid-September. There
is entertainment for the entire family, including a watermelon steal,
seed-spitting, and eating contest. The watermelon festival parade
highlights the _annual eventon Saturday.

BROWNSTOWN CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE GOLF OUTING - June 4, 2005
- This annual
event sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce funds various community
projects. Proceeds from this tournament have been instrumental in
the success of our downtown beautification project which includes
decorative lighting, benches, planters, trash containers, etc.

BROWNSTOWN MOTOR SPEEDWAY
- March - August
- Brownstown, Indiana
is the home of the Brownstown Speedway located on the Jackson County
Fairgrounds. The speedway draws dirt track racing enthusiasts from
throughout the Midwest on weekends during the spring and summer racing

JACKSON COUNTY FAIR -
July 24-30, 2005
- Described
as one of Indiana's finest county fairs, it is the state's only "free
fair" ...no entrance or parking fees. The Jackson County Fair
draws crowds from throughout the state and neighboring states and
is renown for its farm exhibits and exceptional management practices.
