Pancake Breakfast draws large crowd

Bright sunshine and warm weather greeted everyone on Saturday, March 6, and that brought out a large crowd to the annual Brownstown Exchange Club Pancake Breakfast at Brownstown Central High School cafeteria.

Club member Dallas Munter reported that well over 400 persons came in during the four hour event where hungry patrons were filled with stacks of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausage links. Club members spent the morning doling out the tasty breakfast as quickly as they could make it. Sometime a lined formed halfway through the cafeteria but no one seemed to care as it was good food for a good cause. Event organizer Jed Wheatley was well pleased how smoothly the day went with very little problems and plenty of hungry appetites to fill.

The proceeds from this fundraiser along with the Round Barn Bike Ride in July, Watermelon 5K Run/Walk in September, and Ft. Vallonia Days 5K Run/Walk help support the clubs various youth and community service oriented programs. The Brownstown Exchange Club supports Brownstown Central school sports/youth activity programs, Brownstown Brave Wave swim team, BCHS Youth of the Month/Year, Jackson County American Red Cross, Christmas Cheer, Fishing Derby, Brownstown Chamber of Commerce, Brownstown MelonFest, United Way, Brownstown Public Library, City Pool projects, and Schneck Medical Center Foundations and others.

Brownstown Exchange Club would like to thank all that donated time, money, or products to help make this a successful event and a hardy thanks to those who purchased tickets and had a great morning of friendship and good food.
