CHANGES FOR 2010:

Due to increasingly stringent health laws, fire codes and insurance requirements, all vendors must submit a Certificate of Insurance. Those with live animal events, inflatables or mechanical amusements must be endorsed with Brownstown Melonfest Inc. listed as an "additional insured party." All food vendors will be required to follow rules and regulations which have been mailed to last year's vendors by the Jackson Co. Health Dept. New vendors may contact the health department at 812-522-6474 or go to www.jacksoncountyhealth-in.com for information and forms. Since completed forms from all food vendors must be in the health department office no later than 10 days prior to the event, applications cannot be accepted after Aug. 31. Inspections or evaluations of for-profit food booths will begin one hour prior to the festival opening so someone will need to be present. Not-for-profit groups will not be inspected, but an "educational evaluation" may be requested by the festival committee.

To make set-up on Thursday evening more efficient and safe, we ask that vendors with large trailers or concession booths arrive at 4:30 p.m. to be placed in their spots. Those with tents or tables will be asked to wait until after 6 p.m. to set up. All vendors are required to provide the committee with a photo and a list or menu of what will be available at the festival. This will enable the committee to assign booth space fairly and avoid duplication of items sold by adjacent vendors.
